CPUC Energy Division staff will host an informational 2-day workshop on September 25th and 26th, 2017, from 10:00am to 4:00pm PDT on both days, to allow parties to ask clarifying questions and provide preliminary feedback on the Proposed Reference System Plan of the Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) process. The Proposed Reference System Plan is expected to be made publicly available via ALJ ruling the week before the workshop. A notice will be distributed to this service list once it is available.
 
Purpose:
 
The purpose of this workshop is for staff to present the Proposed Reference System Plan and related materials that will be released in the ALJ ruling the week prior to the workshop, and to answer clarifying questions and receive preliminary feedback from the public.
 
A quorum of Commissioners may be present at the workshop, but no votes will be taken. Other decision makers including Commissioners’ advisors and administrative law judges may also attend the workshop.
 
Background:
 
Senate Bill (SB) 350, known as the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015, introduced integrated resource planning (IRP) as the statewide approach to electric resource planning in California. The CPUC opened the IRP proceeding (R.16-02-007) in February 2016 to accomplish several objectives, chief of which was to develop a process for the filing of integrated resource plans. Recent proceeding activities include the following: the IRP Staff Proposal was issued via ALJ Ruling to this service list on May 16, 2017, party comments were received and reviewed, the preliminary RESOLVE modeling results were shared publicly on July 19, 2017, and an informational workshop was held on July 27, 2017.
 
The September 25th and 26th workshop notice will be posted to the Commission’s Daily Calendar. An agenda and presentation materials will be emailed to the service list in advance of the workshop.
